HsinYi Lisa Tseng is a Taiwanese composer, conductor, and visual artist based in Cincinnati, New York City, and Taiwan. Her compositions for orchestra, chamber ensemble, and electronic media explore the crossroads between music and fine art. Recent commissions and collaborations include projects with the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, the Manhattan School of Music Orchestra, the Slee sinfonietta, the Dice Trio, and many others. She also works with dance companies and visual artists.

Tseng’s works have been performed in festivals like June in Buffalo, NYCEMF and Multiphonics Festival, and across Europe, the US, and Asia. At the 2026 June in Buffalo new music festival, she conducted her original work Between Steps and Dance and performed the electroacoustic work Him, in the City: Episode III. She also participated in NYCEMF and performed Him, in the City: Episode II.

Beyond composing, Tseng is also an accomplished conductor and visual artist. Her conducting work includes participating in the Taipei International Conducting Academy & Festival, where she conducted Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 and Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll. As a visual artist, she has designed cover art and posters for numerous composers and ensembles, and created several projects that combine visual art with electronic or acoustic music.

Tseng completed her bachelor’s degree in composition at the Taipei National University of the Arts in Taipei, Taiwan, where she also minored in fine art. Later, she continued her master’s studies in composition and piano at Manhattan School of Music. She is currently living in Cincinnati, where she also teaches graduate music theory.
